Amanda Seyfried explains why she turned down the role of Gamora in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Amanda Seyfried actually had the chance to play the role of Gamora in hit Marvel film "Guardians of the Galaxy" but she passed up on it.

In an interview on the THR’s Awards Chatter podcast, the "Mamma Mia!" actress said she turned down the role because she had reservations about the movie.

"I didn't want to be part of the first Marvel movie that bombed because I said ‘Who wants to see a movie about a talking tree and a raccoon?’ Which clearly, I was very wrong," she said.

"The script was great, it was all based on not wanting to be that guy, because if you are the star of a giant movie like that and it bombs Hollywood does not forgive you. I’ve seen that happen to people and it was a giant, giant fear and I thought ‘Is it worth it?’" she added.

Another reason was because Seyfried "didn't want to be green for six months."

As you know, Marvel Cinematic Universe's Gamora is known for her green skin and magenta hair.

"I knew the people who were blue were sitting in makeup more than they were actually on set and there were all green screens and I thought, I don’t want to be green for six months. I don’t want to go to work and get green and then have a few hours to do my job and get un-green just to go back to work and get green again.," she said.

"I’ve done prosthetics before, it’s not fun. So I made a good choice for myself and my life," she added.

Gamora was played by Zoe Saldana in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014), "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" (2017), "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018), and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019).

Seyfried is known for her roles in "Mean Girls" (2004), "Dear John" (2010), and "Les Miserables" (2012). —JCB, GMA News
