A day in the life of a Pinoy pro-gamer
Many Filipinos are die-hard gamers, but there are only a few who are able to make a living out of it.
To give us a glimpse into the lives of pro-gamers, the “IRL” gang visited the headquarters of ONIC PH where six talented Pinoy gamers are training hard to be one of the best teams in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) history.
Team ONIC PH includes Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera, Jaylord “HATE” Gonzales, Marky “Markyyyyyy” Capacio, Kairi “Fullclip” Rayo del Sol, Christian “Iy4knu” Manoag and Jayson “Jay” Torculas.
According to ONIC PH country manager Rafael Sanchez, each of these young Filipino players are so good that they get to play against teams from different countries and make up to P40,000 to P60,000 a month.
They do, however, admit that life as a pro-gamer can be much harder than some people think.
“Para sa kin, hindi biro kasi kailangan niyong gumising ng maaga, kailangan niyong mag-practice eight hours a day or mahigit pa," Dlar said.
"Tapos kailangan makipagbonding ka pa sa team mo, especially sa coach kung paano mo masasabi san ba ko nagkulang ganon, kung paano ko pa mai-improve yung skills," he added.
Nevertheless, members of ONIC PH feel very lucky to be living proof that you can make money while doing something you love. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
