Metro Manila Film Festival drops list of final entries for 2020


The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has released the list of its final entries for 2020.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual festival will be held online this year via Upstream.

Starting December 25, Filipino cinephiles both here and abroad can watch these 10 films at the comfort and safety of their own home.

1. Magikland

A "Christmas story about kids being empowered," this fantasy adventure is directed by Christian Acuña and stars Bibeth Orteza, Elijah Alejo, Princess Aliyah Rabara, Hailey Mendez, and Kenken Nuyad.

2. Coming Home

This family drama directed by Adolfo Alix, Jr. stars Jinggoy Estrada, Sylvia Sanchez, Martin del Rosario, Shaira Diaz, Geneva Cruz, Edgar Allan Guzman, Samantha Lopez, Ara Arida, and Vin Abrenica.

3. The Missing

The sole horror film in the lineup, this movie is directed by Easy Ferrer and stars Joseph Marco, Ritz Azul, and Miles Ocampo.

4. Tagpuan

Directed by McArthur Alejandre, this love story and drama stars Alfred Vargas, Iza Calzado, and Shaina Magdayao.

5. Isa Pang Bahaghari

Another family drama, "Isa Pang Bahaghari" stars veteran actors Nora Aunor and Philip Salvador and directed by Joel Lamangan.

6. Suarez: The Healing Priest

John Arcilla and Jin Macapagal star in this religious drama about Fr. Fernando Suarez, who passed away in February. Directed by Joven Tan.

7. Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim

An adventure-comedy-fantasy film directed by Topel Lee, starring Vhong Navarro and Barbie Imperial.

8. Pakboys: Takusa

This comedy film directed by Al Tantay stars Andrew E., Janno Gibbs, Dennis Padilla, and Jerald Napoles.

9. The Boys Foretold by the Stars

A coming of age romantic comedy starring Adrian Lindayag and Keann Johnson and directed by Dolly Dulu.

10. Fangirl

Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, this coming of age drama stars Paolo Avelino and Charlie Dizon.
