Former beauty queen Imelda Schweighart says she hates K-pop
On the day which saw BTS win the Favorite Social Artist honor in the American Music Awards, former beauty queen Imelda Schweighart expressed her hate for K-pop.
In a series of Facebook posts on Monday, the former Miss Philippines Earth titleholder shared her thoughts on the K-pop fandom in the country.
"Filipinos are losing their identity trying to be like Koreans. Konting pride, please?" she said.
"Di hamak na mas magaling naman mag-English mga Pinoy kesa Korean. Kala ko ba Chinese nananakop? I think we're getting it wrong. Lagi nalang tayo sinasakop," she added.
I hate kpop.

Responding to one comment, the beauty queen brought up the "oppression and slavery" of Korean artists and the use of plastic surgery in the industry.
"Insecurity is what they sell. They are not promoting self love," she said.
Schweighart encouraged Filipinos to support the work of Filipino artists instead of "losing ourselves into trends."
"I want to see us carve our own lane, promote self love, acceptance for shapes and sizes without too much compromise and sacrifice as entertainers. Diversity, for once!"
A singer-songwriter according to her Facebook bio, Schweighart released a few songs on Spotify, where she has around 4,700 monthly listeners.
She resigned as the reigning Miss Philippines Earth in 2016 after a video of her criticizing Miss Earth winner Katherine Espin went viral online. She apologized for the incident. —MGP, GMA News
