6 ways you can celebrate Halloween in quarantine

Although people can’t go out trick or treating or going to costume parties this Halloween, it doesn’t mean we can't celebrate the spooky holiday in many other ways!
Whether it be through virtual escape rooms or making your own edible creature, you can spend Halloween with your loved ones through these activities:
1. Decorate treats with cookie kits.
Instead of going out for treats, you can have an adorable one at home!
Spend Halloween with your kids and decorate your own creatures with an easy-to-use cookie decorating kit.
Cookie Project MNL’s kit contains eight sugar cookies, 4 four colors of icing, three candy sprinkles containers, a design cookie kit, and a cookie mat just for just Php 380!
For orders or inquiries, simply message the store on their Facebook page.
2. Spend the evening listening to a horror podcast.
Get spooked and entertained on Halloween as you listen to episode after episode of “Dead Air: A Horror Podcast.”
The weekly podcast gets deep into the horror genre and tries to demystify horror films by talking about them with guests from the film industry.
Jasmine Curtis-Smith is set to make an appearance in a new episode, while directors Dan Villegas and Iana Bernardez, among others, have guested in the podcast.
3. Go on an online tour of Intramuros.
Ghost-hunting sessions and spooky night tours of Intramuros may be highly discouraged now, but it doesn’t mean you can’t get spooked with Intramuros online!
WanderManila, a tour company, recently announced that they’ll be holding “One Night in Intramuros,” an online tour of the century-old place as guides narrate real-life horrific stories that occurred there.
According to Benjamin Canapi, the head tour guide of WanderManila, the tour focuses on areas which allegedly have ghost sightings and delves into the history of the structure for possible clues.
“If people are looking for jumpscares and monsters jumping out of their screens, this is not the tour for them,” he said. “However, the fact the stories we will be sharing are true makes them scarier and creepier.”
The free event will be streamed live on the WanderManila Facebook page at 9 p.m. on Oct. 30.
4. Read a Pinoy-made thriller short story.
Nothing can be more entertaining on Halloween than a good story to make your skin crawl.
One thrilling story to read could be Wincy Aquino Ong’s “The Ophthalmologist’s Case,” a short story that brings together Sherlock Holmes and Jose Rizal.
Set in 1888 at the time of the Whitechapel murders, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson find themselves visited by an interesting client: Dr. Jose Rizal himself.
The short story is part of the “Tales For a Rainy Season,” an e-book containing 10 other horror stories.
The book is now available at the Amazon Kindle store for only Php 193.
5. Watch a scary episode of “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.”
The spooky holiday won’t be complete without the annual Halloween special of “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.”
Get spooked to the core as the show’s special episode “Gabi ng Lagim VIII” tells another tale beyond what appears in this world.
The Halloween special is set to air on Nov. 1 on GMA-7.
6. Join an online escape room with friends.
To celebrate this holiday with friends, you can opt to try out an online escape room!
Amid the pandemic, Mystery Manila has decided to create virtual escape rooms your friends can join in via Zoom.
With a wide array of escape room options, you and your friends will not only have fun playing with each other, but also have to put on your detective hats and solve the mystery.
For each person, it costs up to Php 399. Each room can hold 5 to 15 people. For questions and reservations, simply visit Mystery Manila’s site or Facebook page. – RC, GMA News
