Learning modules for Aeta students in Cagayan translated to their language

Learning modules for Aeta students in Cagayan have been translated into their own language so they would have an easier time following the lessons.

According to Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras," the modules are originally in English, Filipino, and Ilokano.

"Mga bata po kasi hindi po sila ganun pa po kahasa sa mga Ilokano po kasi ginagamit po nilang dialect sa bahay nila is Agta," said Teacher Flordeliza Sy-Burgos, who handles Agta students.

"Merong mga words na hindi po nila naiintidihan so kailangan naming i-translate for them to undertand more the lesson," she added.

Aside from translating the modules, teachers also have to climb steep, muddy, and slippery mountain slopes to deliver them to the students.

Teacher Flordeliza, however, said she considers it as her special mission to help Aeta students develop and show their talents.

"Akala kasi nila pag lumabas sila is parang nandidiri na 'yung mga iba sa kanila, pero sinasabi po namin sa kanila huwag n'yong ikahiya kung ano kayo," she said.

"Talagang pinagtitiyagaan po namin kasi gusto naming matupad nila ang mga pangarap nila," she added. —MGP, GMA News
