'Attack on Titan: The Final Season' will be airing within the year

It's really happening — the fourth and final season of "Attack on Titan" is airing within the year.

Anime streaming giant Crunchyroll confirmed the news on its website, although it withheld the exact premiere date.

"Let this be your grim reminder that the epic finale of the Attack on Titan anime is on the horizon," it said, adding that the final season is coming "later this year."

"Attack on Titan," or "Shingeki no Kyojin," released its first trailer back in May after keeping most of its development under wraps.

It featured terrifying new Titans, as well as the return of the Beast Titan and Reiner Braun.

More importantly, it teased shocking new character designs for Eren Jaeger and his friends, who seem to have grown up as they head onto one epic and bloody battle.
To recall, Season 3 ended with the gang discovering the truth about the Titans, and finally seeing what lies beyond the wall.

"Attack on Titan" is an anime series based on the manga of the same name by Hajime Isayama.

Season 4 will wrap up the series, seven years after it first premiered.

Even though the manga is still ongoing, Isayama has said the anime series will cover everything until the end. —JCB, GMA News
