Because of “Dynamite,” Spotify saw a 300% increase in people listening to BTS for the first time on its platform.

According to Spotify, “Dynamite” also reached a new record of 12.6 million streams in the first 24 hours it was released on the music streaming platform last month.

BTS, which has over 11.4 billion streaming data on Spotify, also became the first Korean artists to land on No. 1 at the Spotify Global Top 50 chart.

It has also been added to over 3.5 million playlists.

On the “For the Record” podcast episode titled “BTS: The Band, The Brand & The ARMY,”  Suga, one of the seven members of the South Korean boy band, talked about the success of “Dynamite.”

“I think it appeals to and it’s easy to listen to and it’s easy to enjoy for anybody, anyone of any generation, anyone,” he said.

“And especially with the COVID-19 situation, we wanted to write a song that has bright, uplifting lyrics. And we’re really glad that people have come to enjoy this song, and get some energy from this song,” he added.

Aside from their smashing record on Spotify, BTS also had the largest premiere and highest number of views in 24 hours on YouTube for the “Dynamite” music video. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
