Ronnie Liang dedicates his version of 'Awit Kawal' to fallen soldiers, frontliners
Singer-actor Ronnie Liang has recorded a new version of the song "Awit Kawal" as a tribute to the fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the Jolo bombing last month.
Ronnie, who is also a pilot and a second lieutenant in the Philippine Army, had a special message to all his comrades in the Armed Forces.
"It was a great privilege na napagkatiwalaan akong mag-record at gumawa ng bagong version ng 'Awit Kawal' para sa mga kababayan natin to boost ng moral ng ating kasundaluhan, lalo na sa mga fallen soldiers sa Sulu, sa mga nabombahan doon, mga nasabugan at mga namatay doon," Ronnie said in an interview on "Unang Hirit."
"So noong nabalitaan ko po 'yun, (I had) the initiative to produce the record and release it right away 'yung kantang 'Awit Kawal'," he added.
Fifteen people lost their lives in two deadly blasts that rocked Jolo on August 24, 2020, including a suicide bomber, six civilians, seven soldiers, and a policeman. More than 70 others were injured.
Meanwhile, Ronnie has been among the military personnel tasked to bring medical frontliners to their places of work amid the pandemic.
