Shoe store businessman uses own savings to help employees, others amid pandemic

For shoe store businessman Shiwen Lim, the blessings he has received are meant to be shared with others, especially his employees who helped him grow his business.

“God I offer you this, this is all I have. Sabi ko you can take it. Kasi galing po ito sa inyo,” Shiwen said on “24  Oras” Thursday.

According to the report by Vonne Aquino, Shiwen helped his employees get back on their feet during the lockdowns using his own savings.

“Hindi lang po siya sa ibang tao matulungin, pati po sa aming mga empleyado niya,” said Sha-Sha Yandan.

Blessings indeed seem to pour for Shiwen, who built 60 shoe stores all over the Philippines less than a year since he started his operations.

Before being a business owner, the hardworking businessman used to carry supplies (kargador) and sold bread and rice cake.

Shiwen’s generosity, however, extends beyond his employees.

According to the report, the businessman has also extended help to people in need he has just come across with.

Shiwen gave 1-month worth of assistance to Rolando Gahol, a jeepney driver featured on “24 Oras” after he lost his source of income, which caused his children to beg on the streets.

When Shiwen came across 16 displaced construction workers traveling on foot from Mabalacat, Pampanga, to Rizal, he gave them something to eat, a temporary place to stay, and a ride to go back to their hometown.

He also once bought all the turon sold by two young children and told them to keep the change.

“’Yung main goal ko is to inspire more people. I encourage more people na tumulong din,” said Shiwen. – RC, GMA News
