Did Lucifer Morningstar just speak Tagalog in Season 5?

The Devil speaks Tagalog — at least, on the Netflix series “Lucifer,” he does.

Pinoy fans who already binge-watched Season 5 were taken by suprise when Lucifer Morningstar, played by Welsh actor Tom Ellis, suddenly spoke Tagalog to some Filipino characters that appeared on the show.

If you don’t mind minor spoilers, there’s a scene in Episode 7 when an investigation leads Lucifer and Detective Chloe Decker to a flower shop run by a young man and his grandmother, who doesn’t speak English.

Decker was in luck, because her companion a.k.a. the Devil happened to speak every language in existence.

So Lucifer asks the young man: “Nagsasalita ba siya ng Tagalog?”

The rest of the scene focuses on Decker asking the young man more questions, but Lucifer can be heard very faintly in the background having a conversation with the woman in Filipino.

Apart from Tom Ellis acing a Tagalog line with his dreamy British accent, there are a lot of things to be excited about the latest season of “Lucifer.”

Fans, for one, will get to meet Lucifer’s troublemaking twin brother Michael and find out what becomes of his relationship with Detective Decker.

There’s even a special noir episode that will answer a lot of questions.
