Tom Rodriguez composes and performs rap song in Waray

Tom Rodriguez is truly a man of many talents.

Aside from drawing portraits to help charitable causes amid the pandemic, the Kapuso actor can apparently drop them bars—and in Waray!

On his Instagram account, Tom shared a video of him performing a song called "Diri La Waray Mahimo," which he composed himself.

"It was a way of encouraging my fellow Warays na hindi magpadala sa pandemic," he said in Aubrey Carampel's report for "24 Oras."

The song was supposed to be his entry in a rap competition in his hometown of Catbalogan, Samar. However, he could not join due to the eligibility rules.

"Being a Catbaloganon at heart, but not meeting the current resident criteria, I still wanted to extend my support for their socially distanced Manaragat Festival celebrations," he said.

Tom, who joked that his rapper name is "Kendi Rapper," said he likes rap and even attended Gloc-9's online writing and composition workshop.

"Sabi niya basta gusto mo at pangarap mo, wag ka susuko. Basta sinisigaw ng damdamin mo, patuloy ka lang," he said. —MGP, GMA News
