Make your own face shield in just 10 seconds

Wearing face shields will soon be required in more areas and establishments.

To help the public, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has shared how to make a DIY (do it yourself) face shield in just 10 seconds.

DOTr shared on Saturday an instructional video by Pumapapel Crafts on how to make a face shield using clear plastic or acetate, surgical mask, and cutter.

Pumapapel Crafts originally posted the video in March.

To make your own face shield, fold the clear plastic in 2 and cut a slanted line near the edge. Unfold the plastic and insert the surgical mask garters in the holes.

You can also add protective eyewear by cutting two slanted lines above the original one and inserting the eyewear through it.

The video suggested that this DIY item should be used only when there is no medical personal protective equipment or other gear available.

“Hindi po natin kinakailangang gumastos ng mahal. Marami sa mga materyales na kailangan, nasa paligid lamang natin,” DOTr said on its caption.

Many others have also shared their tips on how to make DIY face shields, including actor Rocco Nacino. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
