70th Miss World pageant moved to 2021

The 70th Miss World pageant will be held next year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The organization made the announcement on Facebook Wednesday, saying the pageant would no longer push through this year but rather in the latter part of 2021.

“We have made the decision to delay the 70th Miss World Final. Safety is paramount as we continue the fight against COVID-19,” said Miss World chairman and CEO Julia Morley.

“We look forward to welcoming the Miss World family to our very special celebrations next year,” she added.

The host country and venue of the 70th pageant is yet to be confirmed.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Miss World Philippines national director Arnold Vegafria also shared that the country’s Miss World pageant 2020 would be moved to January 2021. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
