‘Magic School Bus’ author Joanna Cole dies at 75


The author of hit children’s book series “Magic School Bus” Joanna Cole passed away on July 12 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was 75.

In a Washington Post report on Friday, Joanna’s daughter Rachel said the award-winning author died due to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. 

Scholastic Media, the publisher of the “Magic School Bus” series, also confirmed the sad news in a blog post, sharing with the world just how much Joanna touched the lives of millions of children. 

According to Scholastic, Joanna created over 250 books for children. She first debuted the popular science series “Magic School Bus” in 1986 and it now has over 93 million copies in print in 13 countries.

Joanna is survived by her husband Phil, her daughter Rachel, her grandchildren, Annabelle and William, and her sister Virginia. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
