UNICEF PHL launches TikTok channel to share relevant information to youth

United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Philippines has launched its TikTok channel to better reach the younger generation and share relevant information with them.

During a virtual dialogue on Thursday, UNICEF Philippines chief of communication Niko Wieland said they partnered with TikTok not only to empower the youth but also to influence the popular social media app in protecting the children from online threats.

“We’ve worked with TikTok not only to partner with them but also influence their business so they’re aware that they have accountability when it comes to protecting those children from threats,” Wieland said.

Aside from further protecting the youth, Wieland said that they wanted to create their own TikTok platform so they can spread relevant information where the younger generation are “spending more of their time.”
