Daisies in drawers? Here’s how you can turn everyday objects into cute planters
Recycling is truly great for the environment, and we can do this right in our very own homes.
Plant lover Choi Peñalba Banda had no more use for her old drawers, so she had the terrific idea of turning them into super cute planters.
Choi also made an easy DIY tutorial on how to turn everyday objects like drawers and coffee mugs into new homes for your indoor plants.
To turn a drawer into a small plant bed, you’re going to need to punch holes in the bottom so they get enough drainage.
The same goes for a coffee mug, which you can turn into a small flower pot with just some scotch tape, scissors, a hammer and a common nail.
Putting some tape onto the bottom of the mug can prevent the whole thing from breaking when you punch a hole with a hammer and nail.
You also don’t need an expensive vase to give your flowers a nice home—simply placing them in a glass bottle can make for an easy, rustic display.
For Choi, there is no such thing as “boring quarantine,” especially when there are so many things you can do at home that not only help the environment, but help you lead a sustainable lifestyle, as well.
“This pandemic is the opportunity for us to make the most of our time at home, be productive and create something; by cleaning our houses we can find something that we can reuse and upcycle,” she told GMA News Online.
“It can also be a bonding with our family and a little way to help and give back to our environment while we are at home,” she adds.
Choi Banda has lots of great recycling tips that she shares on her YouTube channel.
She also runs a little shop in Tagaytay called Artotell where she sells reusable tote bags that are also available online. — RC, GMA News
