Animated movie ‘Over the Moon’ is inspired by Chinese myth
Netflix has released the trailer of new animated musical fantasy movie “Over the Moon,” which is inspired by the Chinese mythological character Chang’e, the Chinese goddess of the moon.
The story follows a young girl who has a passion for science as she works hard to build a rocket ship to the moon to prove to her family that the legendary goddess exists.
As soon as they take off on her rocket ship, it immediately shuts down and begins its descent—until a ray of light shines on them and takes them to a whimsical land of new adventures.
The film is directed by Glen Keane and produced by Gennie Rim and Peilin Chou.
Bringing the characters to life are stars Cathy Ang, Grammy winner Phillipa Soo (“Hamilton”), newcomer Robert G. Chiu, Ken Jeong (“Crazy Rich Asians”), John Cho (“Searching”), Ruthie Ann Miles (“All Rise”), Emmy nominee Margaret Cho, three-time SAG winner Kimiko Glenn (“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”), Artt Butler, and two-time Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”). — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/RC, GMA News
