'Animal Crossing' is celebrating Pride with online parades and rainbow-filled new islands
The fight for equal rights has reached the shores of "Animal Crossing."
According to Forbes, Global Pride, in partnership with media company We Are Social, is throwing a worldwide Pride month celebration this June 27 during which players will be able to host their own Pride parades on their respective islands.
We Are Social has also built a "Pride island," complete with "Pride-friendly" clothing, a rainbow march, message board, hall of fame, club and a cat-walk for all players to enjoy.
As if that's not enough, players will also get to decorate their islands accordingly!
The Global Pride Crossing's Twitter page just shared these adorable sneak-peeks:

"With the cancellation of physical Pride events around the world, we wanted to provide a way for people to be able to participate in celebrations wherever they are," Arnaud Robin, Innovations Director at We Are Social, told Forbes
"Pride is an important event for many–often, it gives hope, as well as a sense of community and belonging. There was a thriving LGBTI+ community on Animal Crossing already, so it was the perfect opportunity for this to happen," she added.
Robin also said virtual events like the online Pride celebration "allows us to reach so many people in the safety of their own space, many of whom may not have had the chance to experience Pride before due to a number of reasons."
