Lady Gaga says she initiated Blackpink collab; ‘as if I’d become 5th member’
After revealing her collaboration with Blackpink in early May, Lady Gaga said it was her who called the K-Pop group for a collaboration.
“I called Blackpink first to suggest working together. The Blackpink members were happy and showed enthusiasm for the project, so we were able to collaborate thanks to that,” Lady Gaga said in an interview with Japanese outlet TVGroove, according to a report by Soompi.
Lady Gaga said she thought about making the collaboration happen because she “wanted to support powerful women such as Blackpink, and they felt the same.”
The American singer-songwriter said she got excited while hearing the group interpret the song in Korean.
Lady Gaga’s sixth album Chromatica, which will be released on May 29, includes the song “Sour Candy” featuring Blackpink.

Lady Gaga had nothing but praises for the K-Pop group.
“Blackpink are beautiful, young women, and they’re very talented. Through this collaboration, I felt proud as if I’d become Blackpink’s fifth member,” she said.
