Hosts Pia Arcangel, Tonipet Gaba reminisce as ‘Art Angel’ airs reruns
GMA News and Public Affairs personalities Pia Arcangel and Tonipet Gaba have shared their thoughts as viewers expressed appreciation for the airing of reruns of “Art Angel.”
In a report on “24 Oras” by Aubrey Carampel on Wednesday, Pia shared how the show inspired the young viewers then to become artists now. She also said some viewers had commented that their children now watched their parents’ old favorite Saturday show.
Hosted by Pia and Tonipet, Art Angel aired on GMA-7 from 2004-2011.
“What struck me most during my ‘Art Angel’ experience was when children went to us with their parents and tell us that they were creating the art projects at home and they’re keeping it,” said Pia.
Tonipet shared that Covid-19 patients and frontliners were also watching the reruns at the hospitals. “Someone tweeted that they were watching it while they’re at the hospital, and the patients, radio technicians and medical frontliners were singing to it, the nurses too,” he said.
The report said there have been requests for Art Angel to come back with new episodes for the younger generation.
Also featured were appearances of Kapuso personalities on the show, including Miguel Tanfelix, now an actor under GMA Artist Center, who was described by Pia as a cute kid with chubby cheeks; and Atom Araullo, GMA anchor and documentary maker, who was a student back then.
“It’s refreshing that even while we’re in quarantine, there are things we can do at home that can bring joy to the kids,” said Pia.
According to Tonipet, the show is “highly appropriate and it’s timeless and, just like what me and Pia used to say, before the end of the program, if we can think it, we can do it.”
