New cartoon ‘ThunderCats Roar’ is a hilarious blast from the past

There’s an all-new action-comedy series coming to rescue you from your quarantine blues.

“ThunderCats Roar,” premiering this Saturday (May 23) on Cartoon Network, follows the adventures of a team of superheroes who escape the sudden destruction of their home world, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth.

Here, the ThunderCats go up against a bizarre host of creatures and villains  including the wicked ruler Mumm-Ra who will let nothing stop his tyrannical reign over the planet.

Meet Lion-O and the rest of the ThunderCats—Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, WilyKit and WilyKat—in the hilarious trailer unveiled early this month.

Cartoon Network also released some exciting first look photos of the fresh and vibrant character designs that seek to delight this generation of cartoon-loving kids.

According to producer Marly Halpern-Graser (“Right Now Kapow”) and executive producer Sam Register (“Teen Titans Go!”), the story remains true to the beloved original series that delighted audiences in the 1980s. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
