Shopper wears Power Ranger costume while buying groceries

Superheroes have been on the loose since the enhanced community quarantine was imposed in Luzon and other areas on March 17.

"Spider-Man," "Superman", "Batman" and even "Black Panther" all appeared while grocery shopping, distributing relief goods, and even buying food delivery orders.

In Oscar Oida's report for "24 Oras," another superhero showed up at a supermarket: the White Power Ranger.

"It's sort of my way of thanking 'yung totoong superheroes na natin, 'yung mga frontliners natin na araw-araw nagsasakripisyo  para ma-provide 'yung mga daily necessities," said Carlo Angelo Garces, the man behind the costume.

Essential personnel like healthcare workers, grocery store employees, garbage collectors, and many others risk exposure to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) just to keep the world going.

Carlo said he wanted to tip his hat off to them, but he also wanted "to lighten the mood" by cosplaying during one of his supply runs.

He added that he also felt the extra protection with his whole body covered by the costume.

"Parang feeling mo naka-PPE ka kasi aside dun sa face mask na suot ko sa loob, meron pa kong like suot ko ngang Power Rangers, naka helmet pa ko," he said. —MGP, GMA News
