'Twilight' author Stephenie Meyer starts countdown to mystery announcement

Stephenie Meyer seems to have a big surprise up her sleeve.

The fiction writer, famous for her "Twilight" book series, has started a countdown on her website, set to end on Monday, May 4.

Countdown to what? No one knows! The only clue is the background featuring a starry night sky.

There are several theories as to what it could be.

Since the background photo shows the Milky Way, it could be that the we'll finally be getting the long-awaited sequel to her 2008 sci-fi novel "The Host."

Or maybe fans will finally get the "Twilight" companion story "Midnight Sun," which follows the story of the first book but in Edward Cullen's perspective.

We'll just have to wait until Monday to find out!
