Pia famously competed in the pageant three times before she finally won the coveted crown, which allowed her to eventually become Miss Universe.

"Since the announcement po of Miss International that they increased the age requirement, parang I saw it as a sign to try again," Vickie told Aubrey Carampel in "24 Oras." "Kasi parang pag may hope pa, try lang nang try."

The Miss International pageant now accepts candidates from 18 to 28 years old, higher than the maximum age of 27 in 2019. Vickie, who was the Bb. Pilipinas first runner-up in 2018, is turning 28 in May.

The Bb. Pilipinas-International title is the highest crown to be awarded in this year's pageant after Miss Universe Philippines split from the Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc.
