Building your dream career in college

Are you ready to begin life after college? Whether you are still a freshman or a graduating senior, the real world is just around the corner. With an incredibly competitive job market in the horizon, how do you make sure you land your dream job?
Early career planning is the key! Building a strong career starts even while still in school. Follow this step-by-step guide on how to make the best career plan just for you.
1) Figure out what you really like.
It might be easy to feel overwhelmed at the idea of deciding a career. The best way to go about it is to step back and think about the things you really like to do. Write down all your interests and skills. Do you like to take photos? Is working with computers and punching codes enjoyable for you? Choose your top three answers and think of possible career options from these three. Once you’ve narrowed down your choices, it’s time to plan accordingly.
2) Choose your classes strategically.
Make sure to take classes that can help develop and strengthen the skills you need for the career you want. If you’re thinking of getting a career in journalism, take writing classes. Do you plan to pursue your own business? Choose subjects that can enhance your management skills. The point is to expand your knowledge as much as you could.
3) Take advantage of free seminars and trainings.
If you’re looking for inspiration, seminars are the perfect place to start. Extracurricular learning sessions are great because they offer students an opportunity to exchange ideas and connect with other students. Not only that, students can also learn more about their chosen industry and get valuable insights from experts.

It was a day of career talks and learning exhibits, with topics ranging from business online identity to cyberbullying and mental health. 4) Immerse yourself in the field you want to be a part of.
Internships are your chance to apply the knowledge and skills you’ve learned in school while getting first-hand experience of working in the real world. Take time to decide which company or program aligns best with your goals. Most of all, treat your internship the way you would your first real job: dress professionally and do your best!
5) Last, but not the least: Enjoy college!
It’s important to think of your future, but don’t forget to have fun!
No matter what your career goals are, the best time to begin planning for life after school is now. So plan ahead, follow through, and get ready for your dream job!
