This digital comic book keeps late Filipino comedians alive

Filipino comic book artist Alan Czar Santos is keeping the memories, the legacy and the laughs of late Filipino comedians alive in a digital comic book.

On the "The Comedian Reborn" Facebook page, Alan illustrated manga versions of comedy geniuses including "King of Comedy" Dolphy, Babalu, Redford White, Tado, German "Kuya German" Moreno, etc.

In an online interview with GMA News Online, Alan said he wanted to "create a world or universe where the late actors will be alive again in that perspective we won't forget them and their contribution will always be remembered."

Alan said he created everything digitally and researched every artist to make sure they have passed away.

"Then I had some ideas what if I put them together in comics," Alan said.

Alan said the three comedians in his first volume, Dolphy, Babalu and Rene Requiestas will be brawling with Filipino mythical creatures like a manananggal, kapre aand bakunawas.

The first 19 pages of the first volume has been released on his Facebook page on Tuesday.  Alan said there will be more volumes to come.

In a post on Facebook, he said his work is "to honor and to give tribute those talented, astonishingly funny and brilliant late comedians who made us laugh, who we grew up watching over & over again,"

Alan said as Filipinos always missed and looked back on the laughter they've been giving, he decided to continue the legacy they left.

"They brought us so much laughter, joy and made such a big impact to our childhood lives. Their jokes will always be missed and NOW THEIR LEGACY CONTINUES..."

Comedians Chokoleit and Bentong who recently died are also included in his art work. — LA, GMA News
