Raymund Marasigan receives invite for 'El Bimbo' musical gala, clarifies he's not part of the musical

The much-awaited “Ang Huling El Bimbo” — the musical play based on Eraserheads song — has started running, and so far reviews have been nothing short of good.

On social media Tuesday, Raymund Marasigan showed the invite he received for the musical's gala night. He was clearly pleased with it:  a vintage Nintendo family computer.

“We are drawn to things or music that reminds us of our childhood, and the people behind the musical understand that,” wrote the Pinoy Rock icon.

He mentioned how he appreciated the gesture and how he hopes "the musical will ‘ratatouile’ you in a similar way."

Raymund, who played drums for the Eraserheads, also clarified he is not part of the musical, he does not know anyone from the production, and jokingly pleaded for people to please stop asking for tickets.

But perhaps the thing that got a lot of people staring at his post was his revelation of feeling apprehensive about the project.

"I’ve been a bit apprehensive about it which is normal when someone reinterprets your work in a big scale without a simple heads up," he wrote.

It obviously rattled a few fans, who thought the band was part of the production.

In the comments section on IG, Raymund clarified everything was “legally settled with the publisher.”

“They don’t need my permission,” he added.

Replying to another comment, Raymund said reinterpretations, covers, and tributes of their songs were perfectly okay. “I remix a lot of other people’s work anything. I just don’t have an opinion about it because I honestly don’t know anything about it.”

If you’re wondering if he’ll be attending the gala party, Raymund said won’t — or can’t actually. The hardworking musician has two gigs to attend to that evening. — LA, GMA News
