Exhibit of ‘historic and emerging’ bicycles opens in Marikina

Some of them are rusted, while others shine. But each of the 60 bicycles currently on display in SM City Marikina is a symbol of cycling history.

"Pedal Faculty" opened on Monday and aims to promote the health benefits of cycling, as well as inspire the greater use of bicycles as an energy-efficient urban transport mode.

The mall, which organized the exhibit in cooperation with the City Government of Marikina, the Marikina Bikeways Office, and Tambikers Marikina, is also giving bike fans a chance to win gift certificates through an Instagram contest.

According to the organizers, the exhibit is a rare display of both historic and emerging trends in bicycles.

The exhibit can be seen until July 22. On that day, cyclists will also gather for a bike ride across Marikina and nearby cities.
