GMA’s ‘Unang Hirit’ nominated at the 2018 Monte-Carlo Television Festival


After bagging eight awards at the prestigious New York Festivals, here GMA is, still busy in the awards circuit.

Its morning show “Unang Hirit” has been nominated in the Live Breaking News category of the 2018 Monte-Carlo Television Festival for its coverage of the Resorts World Manila attack incident last year.

It is going up against BBC News’ “Zimbabwe” reportage, Sky News’ coverage of the Grenfell Tower Fire; the Qatar Blockade of Al Jazeera English, and the #MosulSOS of Russia’s RT channel.

The Monte-Carlo Television Festival was originally created by Prince Rainer III of Monaco and is now under the Honorary Presidency of Prince Albert II. For over 50 years, the Festival has presented the very best of TV from around the globe.

“The Festival has also been at the forefront in showcasing the highly talented professionals associated with many of the most successful programs in the history of the medium,” it said on its website.

The festival this year will take place from June 15-19. — LA, GMA News
