In time for the Holy Week break: ‘Birdshot’ becomes available on Netflix
On Monday, March 26, Mikhail Red’s award-winning film joins the first handful of Filipino titles to be streamed on Netflix locally and internationally. Congratulations!
The film, which showed at Cinemalaya andthe Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino last year, tells the story of Maya who accidentally shoots a Philippine Eagle, a shakey start to her journey into adulthood.

The movie has won several awards including Critics Choice at the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2017 and Best Film at the Asian Future Tokyo Film Festival 2016. It was also submitted as to the Foreign Language Film category of the Oscars, but its campaign ended quickly.
“Having a film on [Netlfix] is just a dream come true for me as a filmmaker and storyteller. It’s a such a profound feeling, having your stories and imagination come to life and be shared with millions of streaming subscribers across the globe,” director Mikhael Red said.
Robert Roy of Netflix meanwhile lauded the movie: "Birdshot is a mesmerizing thriller that's beautifully shot and since its debut, the movie has been widely recognized by critics, and we are confident that it will equally resonate with the more than 117 million Netflix members globally."
