In a new TV show, Atom Araullo will travel around the PHL with a blank bucket list
Award-winning broadcast journalist Atom Araullo is ready to take on a new adventure, giving netizens the power to choose his #adventuregoals in AXN's newest "crowd-sourced" travel show "Adventure Your Way."
With the phone as his only guide, Atom will travel around the Philippines with a blank bucket list. It will eventually be filled with suggestions and tips from netizens. They should then vouch for the most adventurous activities such as skydiving, bungee jumping and camping on a cliff ledge.
"The show is really based on the adventures so we call it "our adventure goals," so it's not really destination specific. We've seen a lot of very good travel shows where they feature a province because of the certain things you want to do there. But in this show, we want to make sure the 'adventure goals' are on top of the list and it's what drives the program. It's the adventure aspect that drives the program," Atom said in the show's press conference Thursday.
Atom explained the show aims to explore the "crowdsourcing" aspect of a travel host's activities, where Philippines is a perfect fit.
"The second is, I think the crowdsourcing aspect hasn't been fully explored, at least not in a travel show. Not locally, certainly; I'm not sure internationally. [And] what better place to do that than in the Philippines where Filipinos are so active online and everybody loves to travel, everybody has an opinion and everyone is willing to help. 'Di ba kapag may mga kakilala tayo na pumupunta sa isang bagong lugar, napuntahan mo na, andami nating suggestions. So I think that's the strength of the show," he further said.
Now that the netizens are involved, they get to share their own travel experiences with Atom.
"And also finally I guess, the fact that it's seen through a specific person's perspective, so I guess it's really injecting your two cents, also your insights about experiences that you have just gone through. All of these things make a unique program."

To do this, AXN viewers are encouraged to comment on the social media channels of "Adventure Your Way" by using the hashtag #AdventureGoals. They could also help Atom decide which road to take by watching out for his #TakeMe Anywhere posts.
Running for 30 minutes, the show will premier on February 8, Thursday, at 8:30 p.m on AXN.
In the premier episode, Atom experiences his first adventure in Cebu where he takes on a quite challenging and "daredevil" activity.
Kapuso network supportive of his endeavour
Atom is glad that his mother network, GMA-7, is supportive of his new endeavour.
"Even before coming in to GMA, I was very happy that my bosses were quite open and supportive in my other endevours outside of the network. They knew where I was coming from and they knew that this is the stage of my career where I wanted to have this at least one final opportunity to explore other things related to media. Not just related to media but things that were interesting to me.
"I'm very thankful and excited that I could have that kind of support and still continue doing important work with News and Public Affairs which I consider my core," Atom continued.
The broadcast journalist admitted that conflict of time is a challenge, but he can still manage.
"It's a challenge but, we have more time than we think. It's just a matter of prioritizing. Sometimes there's going to be conflict but so far it hasn't been a big issue. I feel like I can still manage to do all of these things."
Aside from his new show on AXN, Atom has upcoming documentaries for I-Witness, while still being a host for "Adulting with Atom Araullo" on GMA ONE Online Exclusives.
"I'm still doing work and documentaries for I-Witness. I'm very happy to be part of that team. But I don't come out every month so I have a luxury of doing other things in the mean time. As far as other work with GMA is concerned, that is something we still have to talk about." — LA, GMA News
