Maxine Medina, more beauty queens dominate PHL top searches — Google

Two Miss Universe pageants in a year had Filipinos turning to the Internet for details on beauty queens Maxine Medina, Mariel De Leon, and Rachel Peters. Even former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres made the list of trending female personalities.

Google on Wednesday shared their annual "Year in Search" data, which affirmed the country's love for pageants — and our love of song.

Miss Universe 2017 ranked third in the overall top trending searches, right under lyrics search for "Despacito" and "Versace on the Floor."

Other notable local personalities who made the trending list were Kylie Padilla (3rd) and Asia's Next Top Model winner Maureen Wroblewitz (5th). Two celebs who underwent transformations — Xander Ford and Jake Zyrus — were also among the most searched people in the country at 1st and 7th respectively.
