This mobile app hopes to bridge individuals in the autism spectrum, people with speech delays to experts

A newly developed mobile app seeks to bridge the gap between individuals in the autism spectrum and those with speech delays with experts.

Named as "Speak Clinic," the app is a teleconsultation platform which can serve as a directory of doctors, therapists "navigating developmental challenges."

"It's just solving the problem right now that we have in finding the right experts. There are experts existing but the challenge right now is finding them," Mylo Speech Buddy founder and CEO Vincent Rocha told GMA News Online in an interview.

"The connection of the parents and the experts — that is the gap that we want to bridge right now," he added.

Through the app, people can book their appointment with experts. It has an automated reminder system of their appointments. They can also pay for fees through the app.

Communication is also accessible with the virtual teleconsult system, with the conversation taking place via voice or video call.

On the experts' side, doctors and therapists can register through the app, subject to their screening and approval before they are included in the directory.

"We already experienced that it's really, really hard to find the right experts, what we're trying to solve with lang kasi is to make it easy for parents to find the experts, connecting the patients to the experts," Rocha said.

The Mylo Speech Buddy app was launched last year. It employs a video modeling method “that supports learners in expanding their vocabulary, comprehending instructions, and enhancing their expressive abilities.” — LA, GMA integrated News
