2025 hair trends: Try the 'Soft Shadow Roots' color for a low-maintenance hairdo
New years are the perfect excuse to give yourself a makeover, beginning with your hair.
For 2025, celebrity hairstylist Mark Anthony Rosales predicted five hair colors that will be dominant this year: Darked Espresso, Expensive Brunette, Warm Marigold, Soft Shadow Roots, and Cherry Cola, similar to Heart Evangelista's new hair color.
But following a trending hair color is not that simple, he tells GMA News Online. It depends on the health and condition of one's scalp and hair strands.
At Mark'ed Salon, the celebrity stylist said the first step they do for their clients is to check the status of their hair through a scalp scanner to see if they are ready to receive a specific hair service or treatment.
"We don't want to color or bleach your hair just because it's trendy. We have to know if your hair is ready for it," said Mark, one of Sofia Pablo and Barbie Forteza's constant hairstylists.
After the scalp check-up, a hair misting is done to prepare the hair for coloring and to protect hair strands from harmful chemicals. The hair mist is also beneficial to prolong the hair color.
Aside from the Top 5 hair color predictions, Mark said 2025 is also about embracing your hair's natural texture, which is why most predicted hair colors are close to all shades of black, brown, and brunette.
Mark decided to try the "Soft Shadow Roots" color for this author, which features highlights to add depth and dimension to the hair.
"There are highlights, but what they're 'highlighting' is the color close to your natural hair," he said.
The Soft Shadow Roots is a low-maintenance hue with soft, blended roots, creating a natural "grow-out look." This reduces the need for constant touch-ups, making it an ideal hair color for those with busy schedules who can't afford frequent salon visits.
While the Soft Shadow Roots doesn't need any special aftercare treatment, Mark advised using purple shampoo to maintain the color and heat protectant when heading out to avoid sun damage.
Mark'ed Salon's hair color and highlights are packaged at P4,800. You may book your appointment through Parlon.
