Iza Calzado recovering from pharyngitis, bronchitis: 'A wake up call to be more mindful'
Iza Calzado is now on the mend after suffering from pharyngitis and bronchitis for more than a week.
On Instagram, the "Encantadia" actress shared that she has missed out on work commitments due to being sick.
"Pharyngitis. Bronchitis. Not cutesy. My cough and nasal congestion. Not very demure," she wrote.
"Pushed my body too hard again. Almost our entire household got sick but I was the one who got it bad," she added.
Per Iza, she first lost her voice before developing bronchitis.
According to the Mayo Clinic, bronchitis, which can either be acute or chronic, happens when the lining of one's bronchial tubes become inflamed.
Pharyngitis, on the other hand, is more commonly known as sore throat. Those with bronchitis experience symptoms like cough, production of mucus, sore throat, fever, body aches, and more.
For Iza, the experience was "a wake up call" for her to take care of herself more.
"This is definitely a wake up call to be even more mindful. Mindful of my overall health and well being. Mindful of my boundaries. Mindful of where my energy goes," she said.
She also said that it's a silver lining that she got sick before her life and work schedule got busier, as if God was reminding her to "make better choices."
She added that she is under the care of various doctors, healers, and nurses, and did not forget to thank them for ensuring she'd be healthy again to be back on her feet.
Aside from undergoing a panel test and taking medicines, she has also been nebulizing, doing IV drips, acupuncture, ozone treatment, and energy healing.
As Iza continues to regain her health, she vowed to be at her best health "for the many hats I wear in life, especially the one I wear with most pride and joy — being Deia’s mom."
Meanwhile, fellow celebrities wished Iza a speedy recovery and sent prayers her way.
"We have to strengthen your lungs Iza," advised celebrity doctor Vicki Belo.
"Hay. Still sick too. Getting older makes it harder. Get well soon," said Carla Abellana.
"Get well soon my love!" fashion designer Rajo Laurel wrote.
Iza is among the original Sang'gres of GMA Network's "Encantadia," where she played the character of Sang'gre Amihan of Lireo.
She married businessman Ben Wintle in 2018.
Her daughter, Deia Amihan, was born in January 2023 and was named after her iconic character in the show.
