Darren Espanto taken to hospital due to appendicitis

Darren Espanto was taken to the hospital after having an appendicitis attack.

On Instagram Stories, the “It’s Showtime” host shared a video of himself lying on a hospital bed.

“From the airport to the hospital. Sabi sa inyo, grabeng plot twist nangyari sa'kin eh. Appendicitis suddenly hit during my flight back to Manila. Was supposed to be back on 'Showtime' today but emergencies happen talaga,” he said.

Darren also gave a shoutout to his family and friends who prayed for him.

“To the producers of the shows I was supposed to be part of in the next few days, I am so sad to have to cancel so last minute. I hope to work with y’all soon pa rin po! Thank you for understanding!” he said.

In another Instagram Story, Darren shared a video of himself being taken to the operating room.

Darren's performance on Aug. 11 at the Tandaya Festival 2024 Samar Day Celebration in Samar was canceled following his health-related emergency.

Appendicitis is the swelling of the appendix.

“Ang pinaka-common dahilan kung bakit ito namamaga is kung mababarahan 'yung koneksyong ng appendix dun sa malaking bituka (the most common reason for swelling is when the connection of the appendix to the large intestine gets blocked),” Dr. Rolando Balburias explained in a past “Pinoy MD” episode.
