“I've always thought of myself as a healthy person. I don't have a sweet tooth, bihira din mag junk food, pero last year I found out na may type 2 diabetes na ako,” he wrote, adding that his parents and grandparents never had it.
“I just wish I got checked up earlier nung pre diabetes pa,” he added.

He advised his fans to “don’t ignore the symptoms,” and “get checked up regularly.”
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when not enough insulin is produced by the pancreas, or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin produced by the pancreas. A common result of this is raised blood sugar, which over time can lead to serious damage of the body's nervous and circulatory systems, among others.
Type 2 diabetes, which usually develops in adulthood, is related to obesity, physical inactivity and unhealthy diets. It is characterized by the body's inability to effectively use the insulin produced by the pancreas. About 90% of all diabetes cases worldwide are Type 2 diabetes, WHO says.
Some common symptoms of this disease according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, are increased thirst and urination, increased hunger, feeling tired, blurred vision, numbness or tingling in the feet or hands, sores that do not heal, and unexplained weight loss.
Sam's life update came after Sam’s fiance Catriona Gray deleted their engagement photo on Instagram.
Meanwhile, the engagement photo, as well as other couple photos, are still up on Sam's account, making their relationship status unclear at the moment.
Sam and Catriona were last spotted publicly together in April during the birthday celebration of Erickson Raymundo, the founder and president of Cornerstone Entertainment.
In February, Cornerstone Entertainment, the talent agency of Catriona and Sam, released a statement confirming that they are "currently facing some challenges in their relationship."
The couple, who revealed their relationship in 2020, previously said they plan to tie the knot sometime this year after their engagement in 2023.
