Brothers with malnutrition now healthy after receiving aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Brothers Christian and Roger from Santa Ignacia, Tarlac, were first featured on "24 Oras" in June 2023. The boys, who are raised alone by their mother Maricel Quino, were bone-thin at the time and could hardly walk.

They were immediately brought to Tarlac Provincial Hospital by GMA Kapuso Foundation, with help from contributions donated by the public. Christian and Roger were diagnosed with chronic malnutrition and tuberculosis and had to stay for a month in the hospital for medical treatment to strengthen their bodies.

How are the brothers faring a year on?

According to "24 Oras," Friday, Christian and Roger, who have since moved to Camarines Sur, are now in good health and can walk normally. Christian has also been able to return to school.

"Malaki na po ang pinagbago nila, napakasaya ko po ngayon kasi ang mga anak ko magagaling na po talaga sila," said Maricel.

The family was also given groceries, vitamins, and school supplies by GMA Kapuso Foundation.

The Department of Health (DOH) has advised the public to immediately consult with medical professionals in health centers if they also suffer from malnutrition and tuberculosis.

"Ang Kagawaran ng Kalusugan ay bumibili ng mga gamot laban sa tuberculosis at ito'y binibigay natin nang libre. Pwede nating isangguni sa ating doktor, wag tayong mahihiya," DOH Assistant Secretary Dr. Albert Francis Domingo said.

To support more of GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Go here for more information.
