Bianca Umali says converting to BF Ruru Madrid's religion was a ‘personal decision’

Bianca Umali called her commitment to convert to her boyfriend Ruru Madrid’s religion a “personal decision.”

On Thursday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the Sparkle star recalled she became an Iglesia ni Cristo in the third year of their relationship, which she also called a “blessing year.”

“Actually, hindi alam ni Ruru. Hindi po alam ng family niya. It was a personal decision of mine kasi that was my 20th birthday or 21st and then inisip ko, Tito, ano po ba ang isang bagay na puwede kong iregalo sa sarili ko na alam kong hindi mawawala sa ‘kin,” Bianca said.

“Because growing up, Tito Boy, kahit po ‘yung mommy at daddy na mga tao nawala po sa ‘kin eh, and that hurt me very much. And so I thought of that,” she continued.

Bianca recalled receiving her “calling:” She was driving when a ray of sunlight appeared.

“I felt the calling na siguro ‘yung relasyon ko sa Ama ang kailangan kong iregalo sa ‘kin at ‘yun ‘yung walang kahit na sino ang makakakuha sa akin nun,” she said.

“And so nagpatala po ako, and then hanggang sa malapit na po akong mabautismohan at nag-aral ako, dun po nalaman ni Ruru,” the actress said.

Bianca and Ruru are set to celebrate their sixth anniversary next month. Ruru previously said that Bianca is “the one.”

Bianca is now set to star in “Sang’gre,” while Ruru is the lead star of the action-packed series “Black Rider.”

The longtime couple most recently starred together in “The Write One.”
