Halsey reveals battling lupus as she releases new single 'The End'

Halsey has revealed that she had been privately battling lupus.

The singer-songwriter posted an Instagram carousel of her undergoing treatment and recording for her upcoming fifth album.

In a clip, Halsey could be seen massaging her legs. She said, "I feel like an old lady. I told myself I'm giving myself two more years to be sick. By 30, I'm having a rebirth, and I'm not gonna be sick, and I'm gonna look super hot and have lots of energy and I'm just gonna re-do my 20s in my 30s. Seriously."

Another video compilation showed Halsey at the hospital, with clips of her with an IV bag, and her medications.

This reveal coincides with the release of Halsey’s new single, “The End.”

“Long story short, I’m Lucky to be alive. Short story long, I wrote an album,” Halsey said in her caption. “It begins with ‘The End.’ Out now.”

In the acoustic song, Halsey opens up about going to doctors for treatment and her longing to be genuinely loved.

Halsey has always been open about her health struggles. In 2022, after giving birth to her first child, she was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Sjogren’s Syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome, and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). These then led her to be allergic to most food.

Her latest album, “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power,” dropped in 2021.

More of Halsey’s hit songs include “Without Me” and “Colors.” She was featured in the BTS track, “Boy with Luv” and collaborated with SUGA in “Lilith.”
