'Right to Care Card' for LGBTQ+ couples announces new orientation dates
The orientation for Quezon City's Right to Care Card for LGBTQ+ couples is back following popular demand from the public, with new dates announced for May and June.
The QC government launched the Right to Care Card in June 2023 to authorize LGBTQ+ couples to make medical decisions on behalf of their partners. It is the first card of its kind in the country.
The Right to Care Card comes with a QR code that leads the user to a notarized digital version of a Special Power of Attorney document.
This document grants the user certain privileges, such as to choose the doctor or health care provider of their partner, including admission or discharge from any medical facility; receive, process, or disclose their partner's personal information and medical records; allow or deny medical treatments and procedures in relation to their partner's medical condition; and other actions within the authority granted by the card like processing documents.
Those who wish to attend must pre-register via the QR code posted by the Right to Care Card's Facebook post on Tuesday. The orientation aims to help LGBTQ+ couples know more about their rights, the card, and the privileges that come with it.
The orientation will be held at 8 a.m. on May 11, 18, and 25, as well as June 1, 8, 15, and 29 on the sixth floor of the High Rise Building, Quezon City Hall.
Attendees must bring three photocopies of their QCitizen IDs and pens. QC residents who do not have a QCitizen ID yet can register here.
