Kylie Verzosa calls out body-shamers on Instagram post
Kylie Verzosa clapped back at netizens who left body-shaming comments on her recent Instagram post.
In her Instagram, the actress posted a “Get Ready With Me” video where she showed off her diamond bikini top and paired with some light-blue cargo pants and white boots for an annual festival hosted by online retailer Revolve.
In the comment section, netizens were quick to throw insults and body-shaming remarks against Kylie saying that she was “too dry,” and became “ugly.” Others have also commented on her health and suspected she might be suffering from an eating disorder.
Despite the hate comments, some users sent positive and uplifting messages to the beauty queen.
The beauty queen expressed gratitude to a netizen who defended her and took time to call out body shamers.
“I'm perfectly healthy and happy, I eat healthy and I take very good care of my health. It's sad to see so many Filipinos judging their own. I’m super proud to come from here, but you guys make it hard to appreciate home. We’re far behind, and yet here we are still commenting on other people’s bodies,” the Miss International 2016 wrote.
Ending her comment, she said that “it’s never okay” to comment on one’s body and advised netizens to focus on their personal well-being instead.
“It’s never okay. I hope you guys are okay and just focus on yourselves and your own personal growth and well-being. Being kind to one another will always be in,” Kylie added/
This is not the first time that Kylie has spoken up against body-shaming comments. She previously called out netizens who called her “too thin.”
Kylie recently attended this year’s Coachella where it featured artists like No Doubt, Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator, Blur, LE SSERAFIM, ATEEZ, The Rose, and many more.
Kylie was crowned Miss International in 2016. She was one of the stars of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Penduko,” starring Matteo Guidicelli.
She launched her shapewear brand SOLA in February, which she called “another dream come true.”
