From lip balms to face masks, here are the best beauty releases of February 2024
By HERMES TUNAC, GMA Integrated News
In January, we saw how beauty brands started the year with a bang by releasing top-tier base products to complement the return of loud colors for the eyes and the lips.
This month, as we await the summer season, local and international brands are focusing on skin-caring makeup products to protect your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays, especially when you're out or going on a beach trip soon.
Here are five beauty drops in February that we tried and loved:
Issy Solar Balm (P399)
In 2022, Issy released Solar Balm, a hybrid lip balm infused with SPF 30 PA+++ to protect the lips from the sun while locking in lip hydration and moisture.
This month, the well-loved homegrown brand revamped its Solar Balm line, which now comes in two finishes: glow and natural. It's still infused with SPF 30 PA+++ and comes in 12 shades, leaving a sheer wash of color on the lips.
For those who didn't know, the lips are part of our skin that needs proper care and protection from the sun. According to Dr. Erin Tababa-Santos, a famous social media board-certified dermatologist, the lips are thinner than other parts of our skin, so it shouldn't be disregarded when applying sunscreen.
Teviant She Balm (P595)
She Balm, a makeup and lip care product in one, is the latest cosmetic innovation by celebrity makeup artist Albert Kurniawan for his beauty brand Teviant.
It's a tinted lip serum infused with four active ingredients: Soybean Glycerides, Shea Butter, Hyaluronic Acid, and Castor Oil, which help provide lips with hydration and moisture just in time for dry summer.
It's available in five universally flattering, buildable shades of nude, pink, and red.
Vitanature (P899)
In 2022, a study showed that 59% of Filipinos took dietary supplements to help strengthen their immune systems, boost hair growth, and help with sleep.
For skincare and hair growth, Biotin, or water-soluble B vitamin, is the go-to supplement that supports your skin, hair, and eye health. VItanature's Biotin supplement not only has Biotin but also blends a host of amino acids to holistically reduce hair loss, prevent premature hair graying, strengthen nails, and prevent inflamed skin and excess oil.
Aside from Biotin, the supplement has horsetail extract for hair growth and elasticity, L-Methionine, Selenium, and Zinc Amino Acid Chelate to thicken and strengthen hair and prevent nails from breaking.
Dewha 24K Gold Caviar Ampoule Mask Kit (P1195)
Dewha, a newly launched hybrid skincare brand in the Philippines, introduced its 24K Gold Caviar Niacinamide Ampoule Mask Kit that combines a Niacinamide Deep Hydrating Facial Mask and 24K Gold Caviar Collagen Ampoule Essence.
For those who didn't know, ampoule serums are highly concentrated and can target specific skincare problems like hyperpigmentation. While the typical serums are safe for daily usage, ampoule serums have a higher potency, which is why it is advised not to be used daily.
Dewha's ampoule kit features a potent mix of 24k real gold and sturgeon caviar essence to promote skin regeneration and fight against premature skin aging.
Benefit Precisely, My Brow Detailer (P1660)
Benefit Cosmetics just broke the record for creating the tiniest tip for a brow product! The Precisely, My Brow Detailer is a water-proof and smudge-proof brow pencil that has a 0.88mm tip to create hair-like microfine lines on the brow for precise detailing, dimension, and depth.
To complement the natural-like strokes on your brows, Benefit's Precisely, My Brow Wax is a smudge-proof and sweat-proof brow mascara that precisely sculpts and holds brows in place. It has a dual-sided brush for a mess-free, targeted application. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
