EA Guzman admits practicing celibacy with Shaira Diaz is hard
EA Guzman and Shaira Diaz revealed they have been practicing celibacy since their 11-year relationship started.
On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the engaged couple talked about it, with EA admitting he cried over how difficult it was in the beginning.
“First two years namin umiiyak ako sa kaniya," EA said. "Ang hirap. To be honest ang hirap. Noong time na iyon parang hindi ko na kaya. Kasi siyempre 'di 'ba?”
He recalled telling Shaira “Baba, hindi ko na kaya,” but reality hit him when she said: “Kung mahal mo talaga ako, hihintayin mo ako.”
“Doon ako tinamaan. Iyon ang lagi kong sinasabi sa sarili ko kapag ka nakakaramdam ako ng ganito,” he said.
“Sabi ko nga noong nag-announce kami sa engagement namin na I respect Shaira a lot — kung alam lang nila,” the Kapuso actor added.
Shaira explained remaining celibate before marriage is a promise she made to her parents.
“Kasi ako po ino-honor ko po yung family ko, especially my mom and dad. Iyan po ang promise ko sa kanila talaga na kahit iwan niyo ako saan, ito buo-buo pa rin ako,” the TV host and actress shared.
She added: “Sabi nila iyon yung best gift na mabibigay mo sa asawa mo.”
During their "Fast Talk" appearance, EA couldn't help but turn emotional.
"Hindi lang talaga ako makapaniwala na nandito kami sa harap mo ngayon," he told Tito Boy.
“Kasi ang tagal na akong in-i-interview ni Tito Boy. Ilang beses na. But hindi ko masabi-sabi sa kaniya yung totoo about kay Shaira. But this one, I’m happy na personal mismo na sabihin sa 'yo na ito si Shaira oh. Ito yung dating hindi ko mapagmalaki sa 'yo. Pero ito na siya,” he said.
On Friday, EA and Shaira announced their engagement on "Unang Hirit." According to the couple, they have been engaged since Christmas 2021.
The couple celebrated their 11th anniversary on Saturday, February 17.
They first met at a reality show and then developed feelings for each other after performing at a mall show.
Shaira previously revealed that she wants to marry EA after her college graduation which is scheduled for August.
