2 families from CamSur who can't afford decent meals receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Two families from Gainza, Camarines Sur who could not afford anything but rice with soy sauce and oil for their meals received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a report on "24 Oras," Monday, the families were given rice, groceries, vitamins, hygiene kits, clothes, and school supplies.

One of them is the family of Rogelio and Delia Rull, who have nine children and a 10th on the way. The couple admitted that they are hardly able to provide decent meals for their brood.

"Minsan nga eh sa isang araw isang beses lang kami nakain, kung nakakahiram ng bigas sa kapitbahay namin 'yun," said Rogelio, who earns P350 per day as a farm helper.

The other is the family of Freddie and Melinda Dominguez, who are in a similar situation.

"'Pag umaga po kape, tinapay lang, tapos pag tangahali minsan nag-uutang ako ng sardinas o kaya itlog," said Melinda, who earns P175 per day as a washerwoman.

Freddie also earns P350 as a garbage collector, but the couple still struggles with their daily expenses.

"Kulang po ma'am, kasi may pinag-aaral tsaka pagkain," he said.

Dr. Irvin Phillip Ablay, municipal health officer of Gainza, said a meal of rice with soy sauce and oil is not healthy especially for children.

"Mataas ang salt content nung toyo, puwedeng mag-contribute sa pagkasira ng kidney," he said. "Puwedeng maging mababa 'yung timbang ng bata."
