Miles Ocampo is now cancer-free!

Miles Ocampo is now cancer-free

Miles Ocampo was all smiles when she shared that she is now cancer-free!

In an interview uploaded on Karen Davila’s YouTube channel, the actress and TV host recalled her recent bout with cancer.

“Nung time na ‘yun parang, una sa lahat, ‘yung weight ko, parang sabi ko, ‘Bakit ‘di naman ako sobrang kumakain, nagpi-pilates naman ako. Bakit ganito? Bakit hindi ako pumapayat talaga?’” she said, adding that she noticed she gets tired easily.

[At that time —first of all, my weight. I was thinking, why am I not losing weight? I don't eat very much, I do pilates, why am I not losing weight?]

Miles then got herself checked but her doctor and manager kept the truth about her condition from her.

“Alam na ng doctor ko at ng manager ko that time na cancer siya pero ‘di pa nila sinasabi sa’kin, na ang sinasabi nila, kahit anong mangyari, kahit anong maging resulta ng biopsy, kailangan na siyang tanggalin ASAP. So parang ako, dedma pa ‘rin po,” she said.

[Both my doctor and my manager knew it was cancer but they decided not to tell me. What they told me was, whatever the result of the biopsy, it needs to be removed ASAP. I was like, whatever.]

Miles mentioned that when she eventually grasped the gravity of the situation, she began to feel nervous.

“Nalaman kong cancer siya nung after lang ng operation,” she said.

[I only found out it was cancer after the operation.]

According to Miles, she did radiation therapy because "may mga naiwan pa pong cancer cells na medyo kumalat" after her surgery.

Miles happily shared that she is now cancer-free but she will need to take maintenance medication throughout her life.

“Yes, Ms. Karen, I am cancer-free. But, ‘yun na nga, maintenance for life. ‘Yung meds ko, habambuhay na siya and dun na ako naka-base. Kumbaga ‘yung weight ko rin, dun na siya magbe-base kung tataba or papayat kasi every two months, kailangan ko magpa-blood test para i-check kung ia-adjust ba ‘yung dosage,” she said.

[Yes Ms. Karen, I am cancer-free. But it's maintenance meds for life. My medicines will be for life and I will based everything there. Even my weight will be based on it, because every two months, I'll need to take blood tests to check if they need to adjust the dosage.]

In April last year, Miles first revealed that she had undergone thyroidectomy surgery following a papillary thyroid carcinoma diagnosis, which is a type of cancer that affects the thyroid.

In the following month, Miles celebrated her birthday and expressed her gratitude for good health and “a new life.”
