Vicki Belo candidly talks about cancer as she marks '7 years cancer free'

Vicki Belo is marking "7 years cancer-free" by candidly talking about her breast cancer episode years ago. She even showed pictures from that time, which she described as "one of the most difficult and scary things I’ve ever had to go through."

On Instagram, the celebrity doctor said she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in January 2016.

"It was a very scary and difficult time for me because all the doctors wouldn't give me any assurance that I would get well. They just said they would try their best," she said.

At that time, Belo said what she was most scared of was Scarlet growing up without a mother had she not successfully survived cancer.

Belo spoke about undergoing six sessions of chemotherapy in the country before flying to Atlanta, Georgia in the US for radiation therapy.

She also shared how she had to do double radiation every day for two weeks just to make it to the wedding of her daughter Cristalle in Italy.

"I felt really sick," Belo admitted. Flashing photos from the event, the doctor said "Here I am at Cristalle's wedding looking terrible."

"I remember people were bashing me, my dress was ugly, I look bad. I guess they didn't know what I was going through," she added.

In the caption, Belo said "I was never comfortable talking about my cancer, but I'm feeling extremely #grateful this holiday season — here's to 7 years being cancer-free."

"Thank you, God, for allowing me to see Scarlet grow up and giving my grandkids their mamita," she added. "Every day feels like a blessing."

In the last part of her caption, the doctor to the stars thanked her family for sticking by her side and the doctors who didn't give up on her.

"Most of all, I'm grateful for Jesus Christ, who held my hand every step of the way," she ended.

Earlier this month, Belo reacted to a photo of herself from the '90s that has resurfaced on social media.

"I've spent 30 years trying to get rid of these pictures, but @90skabaklaan found it," she said. "I don't know how you guys did it, so pardon me na lang po."

Now at 66, Belo has become one of today's most popular celebrity doctors. Aside from taking care of her showbiz clients, she has given out skincare advice to her followers online.

She is married to Hayden Kho, and they have a daughter named Scarlet Snow.
