Thinking of going hairless through laser? Dr. Vicki Belo has 4 reminders

hairless bikini wax

Waxing and plucking may be the most affordable and traditional ways of getting rid of unwanted hair in various parts of the body, but, let's face it. It's painful, it's repetitive, and ugh, ingrown hair!

According to celebrity doctor Vicki Belo, waxing appointments sure are cheaper than getting laser hair removal, but in the long run, laser may actually prove to be more affordable. You only need to do it a number of sessions, depending on your hair growth.

On Instagram, Belo shared four important reminders for those curious about getting laser hair removal soon.

1. Make sure that it is a laser hair removal machine and not an "IPL" laser

IPL laser stands for "intense pulse light," and according to Belo, it doesn't remove hair as well. In fact, IPL can cause a lot of blotching and uneven skin tone, so she recommends to opt for a legit laser hair removal machine from a certified clinic.

Blotching is when your skin gets a spot or mark as an adverse reaction to a treatment.

2. Make sure that it's a doctor that's doing your laser

Belo also reminds us to ensure that a doctor does the laser treatment because a certified practitioner "has the training and the eye to see how your skin reacts with laser."

3. Make sure that you are shaved in that part of your body

Shaving the parts of the body that you want to get lasered is a must.

"Just imagine a candle: The wick is your hair, if it doesn't get shaved, it can get lit up and burn your skin, so make sure they shave your hair very well and gently," Belo said.

4. When not to go for laser hair removal

Belo also strongly advises not to schedule your laser appointment before or during your period and when you have gone to the beach.

"These two things can cause a lot of side effects and more pain," she said.

Going hairless through laser is a big self-love commitment, so take your time before deciding for yourself. In the meantime, here are other methods to tame unwanted hair in your body.
