Former model who lost vision gets treatment thanks to GMA Kapuso Foundation

Mohammad "Mads" Hugo, the former model who lost his vision after injecting steroids, underwent treatment thanks to the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to "24 Oras," Thursday, the 29-year-old Mads used steroids to improve his body when he started working as a freelance model.

After three months, Mads had already lost sight in his eyes. His colleagues suffered the same.

In celebration of World Sight Day, GMA Kapuso Foundation helped Mads and accompanied him to an ophthalmologist at the Asian Eye Institute.

'Yung left eye niya, nung tinest ko, may nakikita pa siyang ilaw," Dr. Edgar Leuenberger said.

The doctor said that what happened to Mads may possibly be a side effect of injecting steroids, something that must be consulted with doctors first.

"Malakas itong magkaroon ng side effects,' yung cataract at 'yung mas permanenteng nakakabulag, 'yung glaucoma, kaya importanteng napapatingnan nila 'yung mata nila before, during, and after the injections kung kailangan talaga nila ng steroids," he said.

Mads immediately went under laser treatment.

For those who are interested to help, GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
